Line 6 Modeler Modifications

One of the best delay units (and my personal favourite!) is the Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeler. This pedal, along with the MM4 and FM4 have unfortunately been riddled with problems ever since they entered the market over 10 years ago. Unfortunately, due to some poor manufacturing, the Line 6 Modeler Series have become notorious for breaking down whilst on tour. Lightning's modifications prevent this and make the Line 6 Modelers much more user friendly and reliable, and turn these units into the pedals they should be.

The first problem which requires addressing is the lack of quality stomp switches. In order to minimise costs, Line 6 mount all 4 switches directly to the PCB, and activate these tactiles with an actuator (see picture). This fooled many people into believing they were buying a quality unit, when they were really buying into problems. We replace these cheap switches with high-quality, soft-touch chassis mount switches, which apply no pressure to the board whatsoever.

The next most common complaint is the notable 'volume drop' when the unit is activated. This can be a nuisance when performing live, as a small volume drop can bring you right down out of the mix. We rectify this problem by bringing the volume of the unit back up to slightly above unity, meaning that you're still 'right there' when you turn the pedal on.

The last option we offer is an upgrade to the LED's to super-bright, waterclear blue LED's. This makes the unit noticably more visable on stage, as well as making it look amazing!
