Take your music to the ultimate peak with the RAINGER EFFECTS Flanger-X with Igor! This premium flanger has you covered for all your rocket sound needs, with extreme effects for a unique, out-of-this-world sound experience! Make sure you're always prepared to launch your audio into the stratosphere with the included Igor expression controller!

This is a digital reverb mini-pedal, simple to use, but giving a whole selection of unique – and very useful – new sounds. It’s based around an FV-1 chip, and comes with an Igor expression pad for real-time control. ‘Size’ adjusts the length of the effect, and ‘Level’ the amount of it you hear (the original guitar signal is always present).

The Flanger-X is a digital flanger, the latest in our ‘X’ series of mini-pedals. It does anything from a slight chorus through to a massive modulation, from ‘stationary’ flange tones to ultra-fast wobbles. And it also has a built-in huge rocket launch sound reproduction - to mix in to exaggerate the flanger into a colossal sweep - at some settings overwhelming the actual instrument sound itself!

The Flanger-X is the flangiest flanger that ever flanged!!!

It’s true-bypass, and digital - and features an analogue sound reproduction of a space rocket launch, as it burns through the atmosphere heading to space! This sound is envelope-controlled, or on all the time, or just in specific bursts whenever you press Igor. Add in the amount needed - maybe have it completely silent, or up full to really blast away the cobwebs…

Controls

The main controls are ‘Flange’ - for amount of the effect, ‘Rate’ - from stationary to weirdly fast, ‘Rocket’ - from nothing to full blast, ‘Vol’, and ‘FBK’ - for those twangy fast-repeat echo trails….

There’s an ‘Igor’ switch, changing it from speed ramp-up to momentary noise burst. The ‘Env’ switch changes the rocket sound from envelope-controlled to always-on.

There’s a ‘Peak’ LED - to show that the digital input is overloading; this does no damage at all, but happens when ‘rocket’ is on full - adding the final distorted intensity to the sound.

About the rocket noise

This is a full-frequency, three-dimensional analogue rocket sound simulation, with the muffled pops and low roar of a heavy-lift vehicle launching. The sound is partly achieved - at full ‘rocket’ setting - by overloading the input to the digital flanger circuit, adding an extra layer of bubbling distortion.

Turn down this knob and the rocket seems to move away (through a cloud layer….?!)

On the ‘ENV’ setting however, the rocket sound follows the envelope of the signal, and has most of its low-end rolled off - just adding texture and keeping it out of the way of the main tone of the notes you’re playing.

Play the Flanger-X into some sort of drive pedal after it, and it adds a really exciting fizz, with dramatic silence in the quiet bits.

About Igor

Igor is a pressure-sensitive controller, designed to get real-time expression easily. At one setting, lean on it and it speeds up the modulation to its fastest rate. At the other setting, it adds a rocket noise burst… like interference breaking through…

It’s dual sensitivity; flip it over for a hard or soft press.

The Flanger-X is a unique flanger; designed to create the real extremes of modulation settings - and everything in between.

The innovative rocket sound adds amazing textural effects and can sound fascinatingly hypnotic, but at the same type incredibly powerful.

DISTORTION
The Reverb-X really comes into its own in how it can deal with the reverb. It’s based on the excitement of plugging an overdrive pedal after a reverb pedal; it’s ‘wrong’, but everything you play sounds huge and epic, exaggerated and full of texture and detail… Here, an overdrive circuit – after the reverb – can be blended in via the ‘Distn’ knob. Have it totally clean, a bit gritty, quite rough, or dial in a fully burnt-out glow.
At all times, however, the input signal is unaffected; if you already use an overdrive pedal, the Reverb-X can add a whole new dimension of distortion to your sound! If your tone is clean however, it stays clean – no matter how much distorted reverb you dial in.
Usually though, in this situation when you stop playing, the hum from your cable alone would be as loud as the notes you were playing! So you have to have a noise gate involved…

NOISE GATE
This is always on, either before the reverb and distortion circuits, unobtrusively silencing hums and buzzes when you’re not playing. Switch in the ‘Gate’ button though, and this changes to post reverb and distortion. It opens when you play, and closes hard when you stop, totally cutting off any reverb that’s happening – giving an incredibly dramatic and original effect. Sure, it’s a gated reverb, but play a long riff and gate stays open, giving the full reverberation as set by the ‘Size’ knob. Stop playing and the whole thing is shut down, giving a tight control over it – like a hard-edited ‘sample’.
The ‘input’ control and ‘Overload’ LED insure that the output is always as loud – and clean (if desired) – as possible. The ‘Out’ knob has plenty of spare output volume on tap.

IGOR
Plug in the Igor expression pad and you get no reverb at all. However as you start to lean on it the signal gets diverted to the waiting reverb pathway, and a bloom of reverberation grows behind whatever notes you’re playing. Take your foot off of Igor and you go back to fully dry – but the reverb decays on its own.
Or have the ‘Gate’ switch in, and the added reverb is cut short, like some twisted dub-meister at the controls, messing with everyone’s depth perception….
The two types of reverb available are set to cover the widest range of musical situations as possible. The Reverb-X is an incredibly flexible, easy-to-use, and inspiring effect – all in a deeply cute package!
